Greetings, everyone! I wanted to check in with all of you as we start to slide into spring. Traveling to the regions has been my focus lately and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Most recently, I attended Women’s Summit at Solitude Resort in Utah and then the SoCal Wildfire Relief Rally at Snow Summit (feature photo above). Both were amazing events in their own way. The closeknit community feel at these two events was palpable and so very cool.
In late February I was able to attend the Women’s Summit and spend some time on the hill interacting with members from all over the country. Listening to Dee Byrne (former President and COO of Palisades Tahoe) deliver the keynote address was so inspirational, and I hope as impactful for those in attendance as it was for me. Having known Dee for many years, it was eye-opening to hear her recount her industry journey and share some amazing stories. Sliding around on the snow with several groups and listening to the conversations was also very valuable to me. Huge thanks to Kirstie Rosenfield, PSIA-AASI Intermountain’s executive director, the whole Intermountain Region team and the Women’s Council for putting on a great event. The entire experience was exceptional top to bottom, and I can’t wait to work with our regional teams on making the Women’s Summit even better in the future.
After the devastating wildfires in Southern California earlier in the winter, the PSIA-AASI Western team pivoted one of its events to be a combination education and wildfire relief rally. The event aimed to provide free resources and support to individuals impacted by recent wildfires in the region. Generously supported by the newly established PSIA-AASI Assistance Fund (part of the Education Foundation) the event offered 100 participants access to on-hill clinics and up to 18 CEUs over 3 days.
I was psyched to be invited by Marisa Cooper, PSIA-AASI Western’s executive director. If you have never been to the Big Bear area, I highly recommend it. This was such a cool event; on-snow offerings included everything from “intro to snowsports” to “advanced terrain skiing and riding improvement.” Having dinner with several of the Western Education Staff was a highlight for me as I got to hear directly from them about their thoughts on the state of our industry and how we can move forward, and I certainly appreciate the feedback.
Coming up, I have several more trips planned to get out and experience our regions firsthand. First up is the Interski Presidium and General Assembly meeting in Vail, CO, from April 4-9. That gathering is our first real opportunity to show delegates from around the world what we have planned for Interski in 2027 (25 countries will be in attendance!) and I am excited to get that ball rolling. Then, I’m headed to Spring Rally in Sun Valley, ID, April 11-13, a place I have never been and am looking forward to experiencing. That is followed up directly with our National Academy events at Big Sky, MT, April 13-19 and then the 25th anniversary of Rider Rally at Copper Mountain, CO, April 22-24. (There are still spots left for Rider Rally! Learn more and register here.)
Personally, I am psyched to see as many of you as possible at these events and I hope that you can make it to one of them or, at the very least, I hope you make it to a local event this spring and experience the amazing community we have in this organization.
I hope to see you soon!
Jeff
