WHY ATTEND?

2026 Theme: Aspire to Inspire

The Women’s Summit is a national gathering designed to elevate, empower, and connect women in snowsports education. This year’s theme, Aspire to Inspire, is a call to action: to lead from where you are, to share your unique strengths, and to lift others as you grow.

This summit is about building networks, developing confidence, and finding the tools to transform aspiration into inspiration. Together, we’ll celebrate women who are shaping the future of our industry—and create space for the next generation to rise.

Join us in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, to connect, collaborate, and ignite your passion. Because when women aspire, we all inspire.

We will have groups for Alpine, Snowboard, Telemark*, and Cross Country*. Must hold a Level 1 certification to attend.

*Please note, we must receive a minimum of 6 event registrations to run the Telemark & Cross Country sessions.

2026: Katie Ertl

Growing up in Aspen allowed me many days on the slopes racing for Aspen Valley Ski Club while not in school. I started teaching skiing at age 18 as a way to work through University, and stayed in the industry ever since. After graduation with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Colorado, I headed into a full-time career teaching and coaching for Aspen Skiing Company and at Mt. Hotham in Victoria, Australia. Concurrently, I started working for our Instructors Association (PSIA/AASI) on the National level in 1996 working with the Education team and finished with that in 2012.

In 2017, I moved from 12 years as the Managing Director for the Ski &Snowboard Schools in Aspen Snowmass to a senior role in Mountain Operations, while continuing to oversee the Schools. It has been a fun ride, and I love the continued personal and professional growth.

  • Summit elevation: 9,150′
  • Vertical drop: 3,400’+
  • Skiable terrain: 2,434 acres
  • Sun Valley is part of the Mountain Collective Pass and the Ikon Pass (7 days on full; no access on Base or Session).
  • The closest airport to Sun Valley Resort is the Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN) in Hailey, Idaho. The airport is located just 14 miles from the resort and offers nonstop flights to Sun Valley from San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego, Denver, Salt Lake City, Chicago, and Phoenix. These cities are served by most major airlines: Alaska, Delta, United, and American Airlines. After a free shuttle ride from the airport, guests can connect the mountain, the village, and the surrounding towns of Ketchum and Hailey, all with easy, free shuttle and bus transportation. Boise, ID, is a 2-hour and 45-minute drive.

PSIA-AASI Women’s Council for Equity and Inclusion

The mission of the Women’s Council for Equity and Inclusion is to invest in women through educational programming, women’s events, financial support and mentoring at the local, regional and national levels. It also acts as the visionary steering group for creating opportunities for women in leadership in PSIA-AASI and the greater snowsports industry. This group helped revive the women’s summit as a national event, and is actively working with schools and instructors to collect data, develop resources and programs, and guide and inform PSIA-AASI efforts.
