Don’t miss your chance to register for PSIA-AASI Freestyle Academy, which will be held Monday, March 3, through Friday, March 7, in Killington, Vermont. Registration closes next Wednesday, Feb. 19.

This three-day camp offers hands-on training, where you’ll have the chance to work on your jumps, rails, halfpipe, and flatland tricks, all while improving your technical and teaching skills. Plus, you’ll connect with fellow instructors from across the country in an inspiring, fun-filled atmosphere.

Here, PSIA Alpine Team member Peter Novom explains why this is a “can’t-miss” event for all instructors.

Q: Why is Freestyle Academy a “can’t-miss” event?

A: Freestyle Academy draws participants from all over the country. This creates an amazing, supportive vibe that helps people try new things and be the best they can be.

Q: How will it help my skiing/riding – as a freestyler or anywhere else on the slopes?

A: Adaptability and problem-solving environments create such strong skiing and riding skills. Oh, and let’s not forget the cool factor you can bring to your lessons if you can hang in the park!

Q: How about networking opportunities with other pros from around the country?

A: As with any national event, it’s such a unique way to grow your community or create opportunities for yourself in the future.

Q: Is this just for “freestylers” or can anyone sign up?

A: Anyone can sign up for the three-day camp! All skills are welcome. If you’re considering the assessment at the end of the week, take a look at the Freestyle Specialist1 & 2 standards so that you know what the expectations are for those certificates.

Q: Is there an age limit?

A: Definitely not! We have people of all ages in FS events, all it takes is a willingness to try new things and occasionally fall over.

Q: What about equipment – do I need to bring a specific kind of ski or snowboard?

A: Anything can work, but twin tips or a freestyle-focused board is certainly ideal.

Q: Anything else I should know?

A: Don’t miss this special event. You’ll have so much fun!
