EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time, Seasonal, Non-Exempt
COMPENSATION: Base salary range $30.34 – $36.05, DOE
WORKDAYS: Full-time coordinated with a 7 days/week operation, must have weekend and holiday availability During Sept. 1 – April 30, part-time May 1 – Aug 31
REMOTE WORKING: When Appropriate

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Ski School is responsible for the overall management and operation of the ski school at Sunlight Mountain Resort. This role involves developing and implementing ski programs, managing instructors, ensuring excellent customer service and overseeing the financial performance of the ski & ride school,
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and manage all ski school programs for various skill levels and age groups.
Manage all aspects of the Ski and Ride team member experience including but not limited to hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, appreciation/recognition, and offboarding of team members.
Assure accurate and timely reporting of company payroll processes, as well as Workers Comp reporting.
Ensure workplace safety through proper training and policy/procedure adherence. Create and foster an environment where safety is a priority, and all team members are comfortable and willing to raise questions and concerns.
Coordinate with other resort departments to promote ski & ride school programs and events.
Manage the ski school budget, including forecasting, expense control, and revenue generation.
Maintain accurate records of lessons, certifications, and customer feedback.
Address customer inquiries and complaints promptly and professionally.
Implement staff training programs to promote continuous professional development.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in ski instruction and ski & ride school management.
Level 3 Certified ski instructor with recognized certification (e.g., PSIA- AASI, ).
Proven leadership and management skills.
Strong understanding of ski school operations and safety standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
Proficient in using computer software, including Microsoft Office and ski & ride school management systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle conflict resolution.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays during the ski season.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Primarily based outdoors in a ski resort environment with varying weather conditions.
Indoor office work required for administrative tasks.
Frequent interaction with staff, guests, and other departments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to ski or snowboard at an advanced level.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds regularly.
Tolerance for working in cold weather conditions for extended periods.
FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Responsible for developing and managing the ski school budget.
Accountable for financial performance, including revenue generation and expense control.
Regularly review financial reports and implement strategies for financial improvement.
