Overview:

Loon Ski & Bike Patrol provides a recreation experience for our guests, high quality rescue services, and other guest service contacts. Great attention is made looking at the mountain, the trails, and to look at areas where safety concerns are addressed. The Assistant Ski and Bike Patrol Director takes on all duties and responsibilities of a Patroller in addition to supervising the daily operations of Patrol ski and bike operations. This includes coordinating with all other Operations departments throughout the day as needed to complete tasks, and assisting the Ski Patrol Director with administrative tasks. Prior Ski and Bike patrolling experience required.

Responsibilities:

Handle all assigned duties for Ski and Bike patrol as directed by the Ski Patrol Director
Assume all duties and responsibilities of a Ski & Bike Patroller
Responsible for equipment and trail inspection, shoveling, heavy lifting, and skiing/riding with gear to complete tasks
Enforce skier’s responsibility code and mountain policies
Supervise daily patrol operations and integrate operations with other mountain departments as needed
Maintain high level of safety and efficiency in operations at all times
Educate guests on safe skiing and riding
Manage mountain trails and terrain to maximize guest and employee safety
Manage supply inventory
Manage staff and resources
Survey and identify tasks to be performed and assign staff to complete to Resort standard
Assist training of line patrollers to Resort standards
Opening and closing trails
On-hill Maintenance functions
Provide outstanding first aid to guest(s) and employees according to Loon protocols
Adhere to all Loon Resort policies and procedures
Ability to back up the Ski Patrol Director as needed
Frequently works with other resort departments including First Aid Department
Ability to handle confidential information

Qualifications:

Must be able to ski or snowboard and mountain bike all terrain in all types of conditions.

Must have prior Ski and Bike patrolling experience.

Medical skills and certifications such as EMT, or OEC certificate or greater, plus CPR/AED.

Must be able to withstand challenging winter and summer weather conditions.

Must be able to work as a team player.

Must be able to lift 70 lbs. or more and be able to ski/ride while carrying cumbersome gear.

Must have a safety-oriented perspective and strong communication skills.

Must pass a background check.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsible for supervision of daily patrol operations and integrating those operations with other mountain departments.

Education and Experience:

Education & Training:  Minimum of High School Degree.

Experience:  Must be at least 18 years of age, experience as line Patroller for a minimum of three years and knowledge of resort a plus. Preferred experience or ability to learn:EdgeAuditor (Incident Reporting Software).

Schoox (Learning Management System).

 

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:  This role must adhere to department and OSHA job safety standards at all times.
