The Snow Sports Assistant Director / Supervisor works closely with the Snow Sports Director to manage the day-to-day operations of the Snow Sports School. This position provides leadership and support to instructors, helps coordinate daily lesson operations, assists with sales and guest services, and plays an important role in staff training and development.

The ideal candidate is an experienced ski or snowboard instructor who enjoys working with people, developing other instructors, and helping create a positive and professional guest experience.

Essential Responsibilities

Daily Snow Sports Operations

Assist with the daily operation of the Snow Sports School.
Schedule instructors and assign staff to lessons and programs.
Run daily instructor lineups and communicate important information to staff.
Check guests in and assist with the Snow Sports sales and guest service process.
Help coordinate private lessons, group lessons, youth programs, and other Snow Sports offerings.
Teach lessons and programs as needed to support daily operations.
Assist with payroll, timekeeping, and other administrative responsibilities.
Help troubleshoot daily operational and guest-service issues.
Staff Training & Development

Assist with training and mentoring new and returning instructors.
Help lead instructor clinics and professional development sessions.
Provide feedback and coaching to instructors to help improve teaching skills and guest experiences.
Support staff preparation for PSIA/AASI certification and other professional development opportunities.
Help maintain a positive, professional, and inclusive culture within the Snow Sports School.
Programs & Season Planning

Assist the Snow Sports Director in planning and developing seasonal programs and lesson offerings.
Provide input on program scheduling, staffing needs, and operational improvements.
Help evaluate programs throughout the season and make recommendations for future seasons.
Assist with special events, youth programs, and other Snow Sports initiatives.
Qualifications

Required:

At least 2 seasons of ski or snowboard teaching experience.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively with instructors, guests, children, families, and other departments.
Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a management team.
Willingness to teach and work in a variety of operational roles as needed.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in a variety of weather
Flexibility to work weekends and holidays
Willingness to be hands on and flexible to meet the needs of the day in both Snow Sports and at Lookout Pass
Preferred:

PSIA/AASI Level 2 certification or higher.
Ability to teach both skiing and snowboarding.
Experience training, mentoring, or supervising other instructors.
Experience working with youth programs or children’s lessons.
Interest in pursuing continued professional development and PSIA/AASI certification.
Employment Opportunity

This position is offered as a full-time seasonal position during the winter ski season, with the potential for dual-season, year-round employment by also working with the Route of the Hiawatha Scenic Bike Trail during the summer season.

The goal is to provide an opportunity for strong Snow Sports leadership staff to continue working with Lookout Pass beyond the winter season while gaining experience in another area of our operations.

Lookout Pass is a regional, privately owned/operated ski area in the Bitterroot Mountains conveniently located just off I-90 on the Idaho and Montana boarder

Weekend and holiday work is required during the winter season.
