About PSIA-AASI Central Region

PSIA-AASI Central Region is the regional membership organization for snowsports professionals across the Midwest, serving approximately 3,300 individual members and 49 member schools on an annual budget of about $700,000. As a region of the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI), Central exists so that snowsports instruction in the Region is better and the profession that delivers it is stronger.

Central is a small, mission-driven organization operating within the PSIA-AASI Policy Governance framework. Its work is powered by a dedicated staff and an experienced network of education leaders, all united by a passion for elevating the quality of snowsports instruction across the Region. The Executive Director is accountable to the Board for measurable progress toward the Board’s Ends: meaningful certification, instruction that produces results, a growing professional pipeline, accessible education, and a professional community that members value.

The Position
The Executive Director (ED) is the operational heart of PSIA-AASI Central Region, accountable to the Board of Directors and responsible for translating the Board’s strategic direction into reliable, day-to-day execution. This is a hands-on, relationship-centered leadership role.

Core responsibilities include:
• Clear, consistent communication and stakeholder engagement with members, member schools, staff, the Board, and PSIA-AASI National.
• Building and sustaining genuine, trust-based relationships with member schools and the broader membership.
• Empowering and leading a small staff and education leadership team.
• Overseeing day-to-day operations, including education and certification program delivery.
• Hands-on financial management, including budget preparation, cash-flow oversight, and nonprofit compliance.
• Advocacy for Central’s interests within the national PSIA-AASI community.
• Governance support for the Board within a Policy Governance framework.

Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking an experienced, communicative, and relationship-driven leader who thrives in a small-organization environment. The ideal candidate leads by empowering others, communicates clearly and transparently, and delivers on commitments with consistency.

Successful candidates will bring:
• Exceptional communication skills: clear, consistent, and responsive across diverse stakeholder groups.
• Demonstrated ability to build trust and serve as a visible, approachable organizational representative.
• A leadership style rooted in delegation, empowerment, and team capacity-building.
• Strong operational and organizational discipline, with a track record of meeting commitments.
• Hands-on financial management experience, including budget preparation and nonprofit compliance.
• Working knowledge of the snowsports industry and PSIA-AASI’s certification structure, or the ability to come up to speed quickly.
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in operations, administration, or organizational or association leadership.

PSIA-AASI certification or active involvement in the snowsports education community is preferred but not required. Strong candidates from adjacent sectors are encouraged to apply.

Compensation
Total target compensation: $100,000–$130,000, including a base salary of $75,000–$103,000, a performance bonus of up to 10% of base, and a healthcare stipend of up to $17,000.
Benefits: IRA-style retirement plan (up to 3% match), paid time off, and professional development.
