The Alta Ski Teaching Experience
We believe ski instruction should be fun, purposeful, and memorable. Alta’s teaching philosophy centers on fun, control, and freedom—helping students enjoy the learning process while building the skills and confidence to explore more of the mountain.
- Grow your career with world-class training and certification preparation from experienced PSIA leaders, including a three-term PSIA Alpine Team member and PSIA Intermountain Examiner staff.
- PSIA certification and accreditation are supported through fee reimbursement and bonus programs.
- Teach children in private lessons, group classes, and multi-week programs.
- Develop the skills to teach all levels, including advanced and expert children in moguls, powder, and steeper off-trail terrain.
- Join a community of approximately 150 instructors and ski school support staff, with certified instructor turnover under 10% annually.

Certified Instructor Candidate Requirements
· Must be authorized to work in the United States.
· Alta does not sponsor H-2B or J-1 visas.
· Prior professional ski teaching experience required.
· Current PSIA Alpine Level I, II, or III certification required; Children’s Specialist 1 or 2 accreditation preferred.
· Commitment from December 1 through mid-April required; holiday availability is required.
· Full-time instructor positions available: 90–135 teaching days.
· Part-time “Plus” instructor positions available: 45–80 teaching days.
· Minimum commitment of 45 teaching days required.
· Orthopedic screening required.
· Background screening required.
