The Daily Lessons and Summer Programs Manager will lead and develop all aspects of daily lesson operations for: (1) Youth and Adult daily group lesson products within the Stevens Pass Ski and Snowboard School (SSBS), (2) our conveyor lifts, and our summer bike and outdoor activity products.

The scope of this role is large and varied.  It includes responsibilities around the daily operational processes specific to our Youth and Adult Daily Group Lessons Programs and our summer product offerings.  Oversight of the daily Adult and Youth Lesson instructors, staff, and leadership means this role to plays a significant part in influencing the guest experience for thousands of guests each season including nearly 50% of our lessons guests who are new to snowsports.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Successfully coach, motivate and develop a high performing instruction team. Ensure team is aligned with the goals and values of Stevens Pass and Vail Resorts. Develop departmental leaders and prepare them for increased responsibility/accountability.
  • Maintain an employee culture of inclusivity and excellence that will result in a safe, positive and engaging work environment for all. This culture to include teamwork, collaboration, positive thinking, and constant improvement to attract the best and brightest employees and motivate them to accomplish great work.
  • Oversee all aspects of Youth and Adult Daily Lessons and summer program operations, product development, employee, and guest experience.
  • Accountable for the accurate entry of schedules and payroll and timely communication to staff.
  • Financial accountability for revenue and expenses within three primary lines of business.
  • Collaborate with the Training Team in devising and implementing the training plan for all employees.
  • Be knowledgeable of each step of the guest’s purchase path and experience trail, and partner and build strong, positive relationships with other departments to ensure a consistent and high level experience for guests and employees.
  • Develop leadership and technical skill set by taking advantage of educational and training opportunities.
  • Become an active and collaborative participant in company best practice groups and resort leadership team settings.
  • Co-Manage annual safety plan to reduce employee incidents and create a strong safety culture across departments.
  • Oversee and manage all assigned companywide trainings and courses to insure 100% completion by assigned employees.
  • Serve as a Manager on Duty in the absence of the Director of Skier Services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years proven leadership experience in SSBS or closely related field.
  • PSIA-AASI Level II certification in single discipline or Level 1 certification in multiple disciplines (or equivalent).
  • Experience with and passion for working with children.
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office applications and in adapting to unfamiliar software systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in a high paced, variable, multi-faceted environment with the ability to multi-task.
  • A positive, strengths-based orientation and can-do attitude.
  • Employment in this position is subject to a satisfactory background screening.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, weekdays & holidays during resort operations.

Preferred:

  • PSIA-AASI Level multi-discipline certification.
  • Experience with RPOS or RTP staff management software.
  • Component user of ResortPOS, including Ski School Tools, ResortPOS Report Shell, and Customer Manager.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, child development or related field.
  • Previous Vail Resorts SSBS Supervisor or greater management experience.
