Course Description:
L2 Snowboard Teaching/People Assessment Prep
Description: This clinic is designed to target individual and group needs as they pertain to the teaching and people skills assessment module. Candidates can expect to lead the group and receive feedback on their teaching and people skills.
Teaching and People Skills Clinic, Full Day, On-Snow. Qualifies as Assessment Prep Clinic or Continuing Education. Open to level 1 certified instructors, with specific intent of expanding participants understanding of the assessment process and their Teaching/People skills application and knowledge.
* Prep clinics are recommended for all three prep clinics (People/Teaching skills, Technical skills, and Riding skills). One prep clinic, or equivalent event, is required to participate in certification assessments each calendar year. Participation in assessment orientation is required for each assessment topic that a participant did not receive a clinic in.
Terrain: Participants should be prepared to ride in blue ungroomed terrain and blue to black groomed terrain, as the group/clinic topic requires.
Assessment Prep Goal: This clinic will prepare participants for the Snowboard Level 2 Teaching Assessment, by focusing on Teaching and People skills as well as lesson planning.
Continuing Education Goal: Impact overall performance through improved understanding and application of the teaching and people skills fundamentals.
Clinic Outcomes: By the end of this clinic, participants will:
· Receive feedback on personal performance related to their Teaching and People Skills.
· Integrate new and/or enhanced teaching and people skills into their teaching and interactions.
· Be able to compare their performance to the Level 2 Standard.
· Have new resources that support independent practice.
Clinic Experiences:
· The clinic leader and participants will collaborate to determine a relevant goal related to teaching-based outcomes.
· The clinic leader will demonstrate how to apply specific aspects of the teaching cycle to real-life scenarios.
· Participants will practice providing student-centered learning experiences.
· The clinic leader and participants will collaborate to identify specific areas of improvement and establish methods to achieve more ideal teaching outcomes.
