Location: Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (Inside the Solitude Building (Sweetwater Gondola Midstation))
IMPORTANT: You will need to pick up your J card prior to boarding the gondola in Cafe 6311 in the Bridger Center. Please note that you will not be able to store gear in the Solitude Building and will need to leave it at the base or in your car prior to going up the lift.

Course Description:


Description: Technical Skills Clinic, Full Day, On-Snow


Assessment Prep Goal: This clinic will prepare candidates for dynamic on-piste skiing expected at the Level 3 standard on groomed intermediate and advanced terrain.


Continuing Education Goal: Improve parallel skiing in intermediate and/or groomed advanced terrain.


Clinic Outcomes: By the end of this clinic, participants will be able to:

  • Link a series of short and medium radius carved turns.
  • Identify and discuss the movement changes that contributed to accurate and aggressive ski performance.


Clinic Experiences:

  • The clinic leader and participants will collaborate to determine a relevant goal related to parallel skiing.
  • The clinic leader will demonstrate how to create round turns that rely on the ski's design.
  • The clinic leader will emphasize the skill blend required to begin a turn with grip, create highest edge angles and pressure during the shaping phase and decrease edge angles and pressure in the finish phase.
  • The clinic leader will provide feedback so participants are able to make specific adjustments.
  • The clinic leader will facilitate practice so participants may apply their feedback
  • The clinic leader will facilitate reflection on the day's goal and what movement changes contribute to accurate and aggressive carving.
