Course Description:
This two part webinar is designed to help instructor's coach their students towards long term success. In session 1 we will explore different approaches toward lesson pacing and using skills and games to promote learning. There will be an emphasis on the need for struggle, blocked vs. random practice, and how to measure learning compared to performance gains. We will begin to develop lesson plans designed around specific learning outcomes that are clear and measurable. Session 2 will discuss participants' lesson plans and designs towards specific fundamentals. We will also review content and check for understanding. Participants will leave with a deeper knowledge of how to pace their lessons to maximize learning opportunities for students.
Learning Outcomes:
- By the end of both sessions participants will be able to:
- Understand the difference between blocked and random practice design.
- Assess their lesson plan to ensure it is designed around specific and measurable learning outcomes.
- Articulate and recognize the difference between assessing student short term performance gains and long term learning.
- Design a lesson plan allowing students to explore while being challenged and paced appropriately for learners of all abilities.
