FS 1 Clinic/Exam

Clinic Day-

The examiner will review the content that will be assessed in the exam. During the warmup the examiner will have the group do a park inspection, while getting to know the group they will decide what will be the best focus for the day. They will give feedback on the tricks that are going to be assessed during the ride day. There will be some time for practice teaching and MA.

Exam Days-

Teaching / MA/Technical Understanding

The examiner will warm up the group whilst showing them what features and terrain will be used for the teaching segments. The examiner will talk about how the 20 minute teaches, the MA and technical understanding will be laid out. Then the examiner will give a demo teach. They will first watch the group ride a lap through the park trying some of the different FS 1 tricks. Then the examiner will choose a topic to teach the group. They will also ask the participants what their other hobbies and motivations are. Then the examiner will do a demo 20 minute teach. At the end of their teach the examiner will watch one of the students try a different trick and will then do MA on that student on that. Once the MA is done the examiner will then give an example of how the technical understanding will be asked and give a demo answer. This will come from the fundamentals that they just spoke to in the MA but be focused on their own riding. On exam day the group will be split in half for the 20 minute teaching segments.

Ski/Ride

The examiner will warm the group up as they do park inspections the examiner will point out the features that are going to be used for the ski/ride portion of the exam. Then the examiner will take the group to each area and allow the participants to hike that feature to warm up to the specific tricks they are going to be asked to do. The participants will have 10-15 to warm up to the tricks. Then when the participant is ready they will tell the examiner they are ready to be assessed at which time they will have three tries to show the examiner their skills. The participants will get verbal feedback on their first two tries.
