Course Description:
Prerequisites: Must be able to safely and competently ski or ride all green, blue, and black terrain at the hosting resort. If the hosting resort is lucky enough to have double-black terrain, you will not be expected to ski or ride that terrain. Snowboarders must also be able to comfortably ride switch at an intermediate level.
Course Description:
Are you an intermediate skier? You can learn to tether! Are you an intermediate snowboarder who is comfortable riding switch? You can tether too! Are you an intermediate tele-skier who is willing to lock down your heels? You guessed it--you can tether too! In this on-the-hill clinic, you will explore various tethering options for stand-up skiers and snowboarders, as well as sit-down skiers.
People who have previously tethered will also learn tips, tricks and enhancements to make your tethering smoother and more effective.
Note: Are you an intermediate Nordic skier? Don't try this clinic--you will want to sign up for one of our upcoming Adaptive Nordic clinics.
Course outcomes:
On successful completion of this clinic (and with additional practice), you will be able to:
- Tether from your preferred sliding equipment (snowboard or skis)
- Tether a stand-up skier and/or a snowboarder
- Tether a person who is using adaptive equipment, such as stand-up outriggers, a slider, or a bi-ski
Note: tethering is a skill that requires practice and knowledgeable feedback. If you have never tethered before, you should expect to need additional intentional practice sessions with an experienced trainer.
This course is beneficial if you:
- Want more options for safely and effectively teaching stand-up skiers and snowboarders.
- Want to teach sit-down skiers.
