Course Description:

The Level 1 certification consists of a two-day evaluated clinic. This clinic includes a workbook, written test, riding, teaching scenarios, and technical discussions. The workbook is available online and must be turned in to the Division Office at least one week before your event. The written test is available online as well, and must be completed with a score of at least 80% a minimum of 48 hours prior to your event. Participants should have mastery in riding and the teaching application of the Snowboard Task List and the Snowboard Challenge List.


The requirements for all levels of certification are based on the Snowboard Teaching System (STS) and are found in the latest version of the AASI National Standards.


- You must be a current member of AASI-NRM or another division. If you are a member of another division, you must seek permission from your home division before participating in the event. For more information on membership, head over to the membership page.

- Read and be familiar with the Snowboard Technical Manual, American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI).

- Complete the Level 1 Workbook and send it to the Division Office () at least one week before the event.

- Complete the Level 1 Online Test with a score of at least 80% a minimum of 48 hours prior to the event.

- Successfully complete the Level 1 evaluated clinic.
