PSIA-AASI Partner SCARPA Commits to Sustainability
The PSIA-AASI Sustainability Policy aligns our association with industry partners actively working to preserve the winter environment. Recently, PSIA-AASI Official Supplier SCARPA announced they are committing to innovative and sustainable practices by moving toward becoming a benefit corporation. SCARPA’s long-term business approach will help you enjoy snowy winters for years to come.
A benefit corporation is a for-profit company with modified obligations that commit it to higher standards of purpose, accountability, and transparency – meaning the company considers how it can build a value-based business culture to benefit the public and act sustainability.
SCARPA is making large strides to create top quality products that are lighter on the planet in a socially responsible way. Last week, SCARPA won an Outdoor Industry Innovation Award for creating the Mojito Bio, a fully biodegradable performance shoe.
This fall, SCARPA’s Maestrale, Maestrale RS, Gea, Gea RS, T1 and T2 Eco boots will all be made from castor bean oil, a planet-friendly renewable resource, instead of from a petroleum product (which is currently used in manufacturing most ski boots).
