2024-25 Applications Are Open!
In partnership with the 10th Mountain Division Foundation,, this scholarship program provides active military personnel and veterans with educational opportunities that support the transition to careers in the outdoor industry. This scholarship will help offset the expenses of membership with PSIA-AASI or National Ski Patrol (NSP) and help cover the cost of education tracks from either PSIA-AASI or NSP.
How to Apply
- Review the application criteria that must be met.
- Review the materials you need to create and submit this scholarship.
- Submit your application and materials by, or before, 11:59 p.m. MT, Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024.
- Apply now.
- Scholarships will be announced late-November 2024.
- Please note. If you apply for and receive a scholarship this season (2024-25) and do not use it this season, you’ll need to reapply for the same scholarship for next season (2025-26).
Scholarship Funding
- Prep clinic and exam fees
- May include education resource materials expense
- One full year of 2024-2025 membership dues to the organization of your choice (PSIA-AASI or NSP)
- May include travel expense
Application Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Active military -OR- reserve soldier -OR- veteran who has served three years and was honorably discharged.
- PSIA-AASI member -OR- Non-PSIA-AASI member
- Have an interest in working in the outdoor industry as an instructor or patroller.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities.
- Express interest in pursuing PSIA-AASI Level I certification (in adaptive, alpine, cross country, snowboard, or telemark) or pursuing a specialist designation (in children’s or freestyle). – OR – express interest in pursuing certification in NSP’s Outdoor Emergency Care or Outdoor First Care.
Application Materials
Applicants must submit and upload:
- A service record – DD-214
- A cover letter explaining your interest in the scholarship. Include why you’re applying and include additional information the Review Committee should know about you that meets the application criteria, your educational pursuits and/or accomplishments, current career accomplishments, and additional professional goals. Maximum word count = 250 words.
- A professional resume that includes relevant education and experience.
- An education plan and timeline that includes details about specific PSIA-AASI or NSP clinics/events and/or exams you wish to attend and how attending them supports your education goal. Maximum word count = 300 words.
- One letter of recommendation. Maximum word count = 250 words.
