Team Summer Adventures: Matt Larson
Catch up with PSIA-AASI National Team members as they share their summer adventures and how it keeps them on their game for winter. Here’s how AASI Snowboard Team member Matt Larson spent his summer.
What’s been your go-to summer activity or big summer adventure?
I’ve been making the most of my summer with family time! We went up to Canada to visit Banff and Jasper National Parks this spring. Our family loves river trips, and we were fortunate to make two laps on the Salmon River.
The river trips are full of beach time, swimming, games, and sun burns. Good times! I got some whitewater kayaking in as it seemed to be the only activity I could still manage after knee surgery this past spring.
The rest of my time has been invested in my new position as a Registered Nurse in the Cath Lab (catheterization laboratory). I had previously been working in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) and ICU (intensive care unit). My move to the Cath Lab has taken me back to square one as a nurse. It’s a whole new flow and a focus on cardiac physiology to a depth I had yet to go.
Physically, I am focused on building strength in my left leg. Mentally, I’ve been focused on Freestyle Specialist Task Force projects and training elements for people skills. I’ve also done some extra-curricular brain flexing in truck and snowmobile repair. #lifelonglearner. See you on snow soon!
