Applications Open for Small Snowsports School Scholarship
Applications are now open for the Small Snowsports School Scholarship which provides eligible schools with educational resources to help grow snowsports participation.
This scholarship will provide small snowsports schools across the country, who are PSIA-AASI Member Schools, with access to educational events and education leaders, such as PSIA-AASI National Team members, who provide experiences that may be career-changing.
Small schools are training the future leaders of our industry to make the commitment to educate the public about skiing and snowboarding. Scholarship recipients may receive up to $2,000 for an education plan (prep clinics, education resources, exams) and additional travel expenses for PSIA-AASI clinicians that visit the PSIA-AASI Member School.
In a recent survey of snowsports school directors and managers, feedback about PSIA-AASI’s relationship with their school revealed:
- 64% agreed that training through the PSIA-AASI curriculum increases safety and reduces injuries to their instructors.
- 51% agreed that PSIA-AASI makes it easier for their employees to be successful.
- 48% agreed that PSIA-AASI enables their school to provide better customer service.
These scholarships help offset expenses related to schools’ implementation plans during the 2022-23 season.
“We have a small staff of 50 to 60, which includes part-time, full-time, and holiday helpers,” said Granby Ranch Ski and Ride School, and scholarship recipient, Director CJ Mauro. “The Small Snowsports School scholarship helped us give our staff comprehensive training. The scholarship helped us certify 75 percent of our staff, allowing us to provide high-quality lessons to our guests. Thank you, PSIA-AASI, for paying it forward to our mountain and creating so many new snow pros!”
Submit your application and materials for the scholarship by, or before, 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022. Late applications or applications missing materials will not be considered.
