Coach Applications Closed + Jeb Boyd’s New Title
As many of you know, selections for the 2020-24 PSIA-AASI National Team will be made this spring. In preparation, PSIA-AASI is in the process of selecting coaches for the new team.
In other team news, we’re excited to announce Jeb Boyd’s new title of Head Coach.
Strong Turnout for PSIA-AASI National Team Discipline Coach Applications
As PSIA-AASI enters into the final year of the 2016-20 Team term, the association is preparing for the 2020 Team selection process happening at Breckenridge, Colorado, April 13-16, 2020.
Part of this process is identifying the coaching staff for the 2020-24 team through an open application process, which closed July 31. The process does not in any way reflect upon the performance of the current coaching staff, however, the open application did allow anyone to apply for the next term. Existing coaches that are interested in continuing in their role also reapplied through this process.
According to Dave Schuiling, PSIA-AASI director of education, just under 20 snowsports education professionals submitted applications for the coaching positions.
“The Team continues to serve the association and membership first and foremost,” said Schuilding. “ONEteam models a deeper connection to strengthen all resources and work together for greater consistency, ultimately benefiting all snowsports professionals.”
Schuiling hopes to have coaches named by mid-September. PSIA-AASI members who want to be considered for the national team can submit an application starting at the beginning of October.
Jeb Boyd Named Head Coach
Moving into this next term, current Team Manager Jeb Boyd has been appointed to Head Coach of the 2020-24 Team. He will assist in the application process and help name the coaching staff. There will also be a telemark coach selected for the new team.
“Jeb’s new role as head coach provides leadership and support to the entire coaching staff focused on ONEteam,” Schuiling said. “Adding a Telemark coach provides leadership to that discipline to maintain its identity and growth. All discipline coaches support each other with holistic guidance from the head coach.”
“The head coach, along with coaching staff, have direct lines of support to the PSIA-AASI Education Department,” added Schuiling. “This structure was nurtured and proven extremely successful at Interski 2019 in Pamporovo, Bulgaria. We’re excited to solidify the ONEteam spirit with the 2020-24 Team. With 2020, the vision is clearly set for the future.”
