 Ski & Snowboard Instructor 

 POSITION: 

Solitude is looking for a passionate and confident ski/ride instructor for our winter operations. This position involves teaching individuals and groups new skills and techniques to help improve their skiing ability. Instructors are to provide for participating guests Alpine skiing, or Snowboarding lessons with an emphasis on safety, fun, and learning. Previous teaching experience and certifications are required for this position. 

REQUIREMENTS FOR NON-CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR: Starting at $18.75/hr 

• Strong understanding of the educational concepts particular to your discipline 

A well-developed physical skill-set particular to your discipline 

Outstanding interpersonal skills: ability to create trusting relationships with many personalities 

Well-conditioned for highly athletic activities in a mountain environment over many consecutive days 

Solid understanding of all Solitude guest services and how to appropriately incorporate them into lessons 

• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. 

Ability to work outdoors in all temperature/weather conditions 

• Ability to work with little supervision after daily assignments are made 

• Able to instruct groups and individuals while skiing/riding, both adults and children 

• Assist in preparation of learning areas. 

Assist with the registration process and checkout; Assist with lunchtime duties 

• Assist with carpets 

• Being outdoors in winter conditions for 6 plus hours daily 

REQUIREMENTS FOR LEVEL I INSTRUCTOR: Starting at $22/hr 

Strong understanding of the educational concepts particular to your discipline 

PSIA/AASI Level 1 Certification or equivalent (current)- Required 

A well-developed physical skill-set particular to your discipline 

Outstanding interpersonal skills: ability to create trusting relationships with many personalities 

Well-conditioned for highly athletic activities in a mountain environment over many consecutive days 

Solid understanding of all Solitude guest services and how to appropriately incorporate them into lessons 

Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Attend all required training 

Provide for participating guests an Alpine skiing, or Snowboarding lesson experience that consistently exceeds expectations 

Be in attendance and in accordance with all requirements of Alpine skiing, or Snowboarding Instructor Policies and Procedures 

Continuously assess guests and the Alpine skiing, or Snowboarding lessons environment for safety 

• Seek out and participate in educational events that better your product 

Be a positive and professional ambassador of Solitude, and Alpine skiing, or Snowboarding lessons in general, to all guests 

• Helping raise guests’ confidence levels 

• Making sure individuals are comfortable with their equipment 

• Teaching familiarity and safety with the ski lifts 

Utilize ski and ride school class management program software 

Self-manage timekeeping monitor schedule on ski and ride school scheduling software 

• Complete other department tasks as assigned
