Did You See That?!- The Big Mountain Edition* takes our popular Alpine Movement Analysis course off-trail, looking at both tactics and techniques for steep terrain, bumps, powder, and variable conditions. This course is designed around those seeking Level III certification, but members of all levels may participate.
Over three evenings, members and the course conductor will identify the 5 fundamentals of Alpine Skiing throughout 3 phases of the turn. In Did You See That- The Big Mountain Edition, participants will employ the O.E.P. (Observe, Evaluate, Prescribe) model to assess the ski and body performance and the D.I.R.T. model to understand how skill application varies tactically and situationally. Be prepared to have your concepts challenged and your focus refined in this exciting assessment of double diamond skiing.
After the course, participants should be able to describe the tactical application of skills in variable conditions, assess the suitability of that blend, and recommend changes to enhance a skier's performance in a "big mountain" environment.
*This course does require attendance at all three sessions and includes required homework assignments for each.
Required: Internet connection, speakers, and computer microphone required; webcam useful but not mandatory. Connection via cell phone is strongly discouraged.
