Course Description (Wedge Breakers):
The primary goal of the Wedge Breakers course is to help instructors understand how "edge pressure" wedges can hinder a skier's progress and to teach techniques that promote a "light and guiding" approach using the inside foot. This course aims to equip instructors with strategies to help students transition from a wedge to dynamic parallel skiing.
Course Description (It's All About What's Inside):
The clinic "It's all about what's inside" focuses on the essential role of the inside leg in skiing, emphasizing steering, inversion/eversion of the foot (edging), and variations in effective leg length. In the wedge turn, participants will learn to initiate the turn by inverting or tipping the inside foot towards the lateral side, guiding it in the desired direction. This action naturally leads the outside leg to follow, producing a wedge turn that aligns with the National Standards for wedge turn demonstrations.
Course Description (The Short Turn is Dead):
This clinic provides a comprehensive examination of short turn progressions, focusing on two primary approaches: the rotary-based progression beginning with pivot slips and the edging-first progression of skate-to-shape-to-short.
Course Description (Synchro Skills for Pattern Making and Breaking):
Alpine Synchro skiing gets a bad rap as a tired tool of ski instruction, the practice has some great qualities for developing and honing your skills. Synchro is a fantastic tool for M.A.-- you'll learn to see and feel how your turns differ from those of your partner(s)- and ideally learn not only how to adjust, but how to describe the adjustment. Synchro Skiing develops spatial awareness and visual acuity, helping participants maintain track of their position relative to their partner(s) in front, in back, and to the side.
Course Description (The Long Turn is King):
This clinic addresses the common issue of "Park-and-Ride" long radius turns, which, while achieving the desired turn shape, lack dynamic skier performance. This course introduces participants to the "Transfer-Travel-Tip-Twist" methodology, designed to cultivate long radius turns that go beyond merely riding the side cut of the skis.
Course Description (Pick Your Poison):
Grab a Clinician and go ski as a group - unstructured personal skiing clinics.
Course Description (1001 Outside Ski Turns):
Just as it sounds, this clinic emphasizes a focus on proper use of the outside ski. We encourage registration for this course, as well as "It's All About What's Inside!"
