Course Description:

Duration: 1 Day On Snow, 6 CEUs


Learning Connection Highlight: Technical Skills Clinic


Description: This clinic is intended to prepare members in pursuit of L3 certification, targeting the ability to VARY TURN SHAPE, SIZE, AND LINE as needed to achieve ideal ski performance. This clinic will explore off-piste terrain and focus on tactical and fundamental movements to adapt to demands on request.


Prerequisites: Alpine Level 2 Certification, Professional Membership


Clinic Outcomes: By the end of the event, Participants will:

  • Have an understanding of the Off-Piste Versatility Skiing Activities and their essential elements.
  • Recognize how to vary turn shape, size, and line to achieve desired skiing outcomes in variable terrain.
  • Reflect on their performance relative to the Integrate Fundamentals Criteria and compare to the National Standard.


Clinic Experiences:

  • The participants will collaborate with the clinic leader to establish relevant goals related to the Versatility Skiing Criteria.
  • Through discussion and exploration, participants will develop understanding in how to manage DIRT to create changes in flow and adapt at will to changes terrain, conditions, tempo, and speed.
  • The clinic leader will facilitate discussions related to varying Turn Shape, Turn Size, and Line to achieve ideal ski performance in advanced off-piste terrain.
  • Participants will perform and practice Off-Piste Versatility Assessment Activities and from the Level 3 Alpine Activity Guide as they relate to the goal of the day.
  • The clinic leader will facilitate reflection related to performance and provide feedback for continued growth.
