Course Description:
The Adaptive Visual Level 3 On-Snow Assessment evaluates teaching and guiding of blind and low-vision students at the PSIA-AASI Adaptive Level 3 National Standard. Level 3 candidates guide confidently in demanding terrain and conditions and can develop a student toward truly independent, dynamic skiing.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Advanced guiding - Guide safely and smoothly in steeps, bumps, trees, flat light and variable snow, adjusting position and cueing to the situation.
- Independence-focused teaching - Build the student's own terrain reading, tactical decision making and self-reliance rather than relying solely on the guide.
- Leadership - Train and direct other guides, manage group guiding scenarios, and act as a resource within your school.
Adaptive Level 2 visual certification is a prerequisite. Review the PSIA-NW Adaptive Certification Guide and bring a completed Cog-VI Development Log.
