Location: Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (Inside the Solitude Building (Sweetwater Gondola Midstation))
IMPORTANT: You will need to pick up your J card prior to boarding the gondola in Cafe 6311 in the Bridger Center. Please note that you will not be able to store gear in the Solitude Building and will need to leave it at the base or in your car prior to going up the lift.

Learning Connection Highlight: Technical Skills Clinic


Description: This clinic is intended to prepare members in pursuit of L2 certification, targeting the ability to ADAPT and BLEND the Technical Fundamentals to produce purposeful, coordinated, and efficient skiing. Participants will focus on developing Versatility by learning to actively manage turn shape, turn size, and line in un-groomed terrain, building the tactical adjustments needed to handle variable snow, bumps, and changing conditions from beginner through easiest advanced zones.


Recommended Preparatory Learning: Alpine Level 2 Movement Analysis: Building Frameworks for Cause and Effect


Prerequisites: Level 1 Certification, Professional Membership


Clinic Outcomes

By the end of the clinic, participants will:

  • Have an understanding of the Level 2 Versatility Activities in un-groomed terrain and their essential elements across beginner through easiest advanced zones.
  • Reflect on their performance relative to the Versatility Assessment Criteria--specifically managing turn shape, turn size, and line off-piste--and compare to the National Standard.
  • Receive feedback related to their performance in preparation for the L2 Skiing Assessment.


Clinic Experiences

  • The participants will collaborate with the clinic leader to establish relevant goals related to the Versatility Criteria in off-piste environments.
  • The clinic leader will deliver accurate information and demonstrations on managing turn shape, size, and line within variable snow, bumps, or un-groomed conditions.
  • The clinic leader will facilitate discussions on tactical choices, line selection, and movement adaptations required for easiest advanced off-piste zones.
  • The participants will perform and practice off-piste versatility tasks across varied terrain and conditions.
  • The clinic leader will facilitate reflection related to performance and provide feedback for continued growth.
