Course Description:
Explore alpine gate training with dedicated days for both Slalom and Giant Slalom. Day one will focus on Slalom tactics and technical skills; day two will shift to Giant Slalom. This course incorporates free-skiing, drill work, and guided gate sessions, blending in- and out-of-course coaching to improve performance and confidence in a controlled gate environment. Ideal for certified members with basic experience in gates, this clinic provides a progressive approach to developing race fundamentals. Participants are encouraged to bring both SL and GS skis and should be comfortable skiing groomed advanced terrain.
Learning Experiences:
Specific activities will vary depending on group needs and conditions, and typically include:
• Guided gate runs with individual feedback
• Focused technical and tactical drills outside of gates
• Video review or peer discussion (where available)
• Discussions on equipment setup and course strategy
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, successful participants will be able to:
• Demonstrate improved technical and tactical execution in both SL and GS environments
• Apply fundamental skiing skills to gate-specific scenarios
• Identify personal development opportunities for continued gate skiing improvement
Prerequisite(s):
• Minimum Level I Certification
• Minimal experience skiing in gates (basic familiarity with SL/GS environments)
• Comfort skiing advanced groomed terrain
Equipment/Materials Needed:
• Slalom skis
• Grand slalom skis
• Helmet (mandatory), protective gear recommended
