Course Description
The purpose of the Senior Specialist program is to give instructors the knowledge and tools they need to provide effective lessons to active seniors of beginner to intermediate abilities.
The Prep Webinars will be hosted from 8:00 PM (ET) - 10:00 PM (ET).
The On-Snow Event will be held from 9:00 AM (ET) - 3:00 PM (ET). (Please arrive 30 minutes before the start of the event)
What: Two 2-hour virtual sessions and one on-snow day course course open to any Level I or higher PSIA-AASI Central member. The Senior Specialist program will present instructors with educational training to gain the tools and knowledge necessary to deliver high-quality lessons for the senior snow sports enthusiast -- of all disciplines.
How: The Central Senior Specialist 1 course encourages participants to apply the information included in the PSIA-NW Senior Specialist Manual, their professional knowledge, as well as an understanding of the fundamentals- both in the completion of the virtual sessions and during the on-snow portion. The On-Snow portion will further explore the senior CAP/VAK models introduced in the virtual sessions, and lesson modifications in both approach and execution relative to the senior student.
Participants will demonstrate and discuss the principles of senior-specific models, the teaching cycle, theoretical and applied professional knowledge.
A quiz will be part of the virtual sessions. A SrS1 certificate is awarded based upon the degree of participation and understanding including the synthesis and evaluation of course material.
Prerequisites:
Current PSIA-AASI Member in good standing
Must have attained a Level I Certification in any of the following disciplines: Adaptive, Alpine, Snowboard, Cross Country, or Telemark
Read Senior Specialist Manual

The Hybrid Exam format consists of 2 two-hour *virtual webinar sessions and 1 One-Day On-Snow Exam. Check your event's session times and locations under the "My Events" tab in your Member Profile or by viewing the event on the PSIA-AASI Central Calendar.
Prerequisites for the Event:
- Read & Review the PSIA-AASI SRS1 Workbook and the Senior Specialist Manual
- Watch the Snow Day_Life, Death, and Skiing Video prior to the Virtual Event.
- Complete the PSIA-C SRS1 Worksheet and submit a copy to submissions@psia-c.org prior to the first virtual event. (At least 1 week prior).
