Course Description:

Adaptive Snowboard Level 1 COG/VI

This is a one-day module assessment in which candidates are verified in their riding skills related to adaptive lessons, teaching, medical, and technical knowledge. Candidates must be able to show competent use of specialized adaptive equipment relative to students with cognitive disabilities and visual impairments. Be prepared to work through adaptive scenarios and diagnoses with hands on opportunities to work with peers and adaptive equipment.

Please bring with you to the exam a completed copy of the Adaptive Level 1 Cognitive and Visual Impairment quiz found here.

Hit the books now before we all hit the snow. A great place to start is with our current national publications such as the PSIA Adaptive Alpine Manual, PSIA Alpine Adaptive Instruction Supplement: Diagnoses and Medication Classifications, AASI Snowboard Technical Manual, and the Snowsports Teaching Manual for Snowsports Instructors. Digital versions are available for free at Digital Manuals. Please spend time reviewing the educational resources available on the Adaptive Snowboard Reference Materials section of the PSIA-RM website.
