Course Description:

Looking for an early season opportunity to refresh your skills? Want the excitement of the Eastern Academy, but don't quite have the time to dive in? This condensed weekend event might just be the answer for you.

The Children's Focus Mini Academy is a great way to slide with an Eastern ACE Team member, prepare for the season, get some valuable feedback, and have fun doing it! This event is open to participants on any gear, so expect a mutli-discipline approach.

Attendance is limited, and Mini Academy events often fills quickly; early registration is strongly encouraged.

Learning Experiences:

Specific activities will vary depending on group needs and conditions, and typically include:

• Practice in adapting communication, pacing, and activity design for children's developmental stages.

• Movement analysis discussions centered on common patterns in children's skiing/riding.

• Exploring creative activities and terrain choices to foster engagement and skill development for kids.

• Guided conversations with ACE Team members about current trends and best practices in children's snowsports education.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, successful participants will be able to:

• Identify age-appropriate progressions and activities to meet children's developmental needs.

• Recognize common movement patterns in children and suggest relevant, fun-focused activities to promote change.

• Incorporate effective communication strategies and class-management tools that create safe, positive learning environments.

• Integrate playful, student-centered approaches that enhance both engagement and skill growth.

Prerequisite(s):

Discipline Level I Certified

Equipment/Materials Needed:

Participants can slide on alpine, snowboard or telemark equipment for this event, though we recommend you select the equipment you are most comfortable sliding and teaching on.
