Course Description:
The CS2 Assessment evaluates the advanced application of CAP Model concepts through the synthesis and evaluation of teaching tactics for students aged three - teenage years, through the advanced skiing or riding zone. Candidates are evaluated on their knowledge and versatility in teaching to developmental stages.
The CS2 Assessment includes a Workbook and an Online Quiz, both of which must be completed prior to attending the on-snow event. For events this season, candidates are required to complete the 2023 - 2024 version of the CS2 Workbook. Assessors for the CS2 may ask participants to digitally submit completed workbooks before meeting on snow or to bring completed workbooks with you to the CS2 event, to be collected upon check in.
Teaching and People Skills are assessed on Day 1. Movement Analysis and Technical Understanding are assessed on Day 2. Professionalism and Self-Management are assessed on both days. Candidates attending the CS2 Assessment for the first time must attend both days consecutively. Candidates earn the Children's Specialist 2 Certificate upon successful completion of the CS2 Workbook, the Online Quiz, and the two-day assessment.
We strongly encourage candidates to review ALL event materials, including the Study Guide, National Standards and the Children's Specialist Performance Guide. All event materials are listed through this link. Suggested educational materials, including the Teaching Children Snowsports Manual, Children's Instruction Manual, and the Teaching Snowsports Manual, are all available for purchase through the PSIA-AASI website.
