Course Description:
What to expect :
- To have FUN
- Learn teaching tools for seniors
- Be introduced to low impact skiing/riding
- Be prepared to participate and interact in engaging group discussions, activities, and problem solving solutions when teaching seniors
- More understanding of the Senior Specialist program and what is expected during the event
Who is this for:
- Anyone wanting to gain more knowledge about how to pace a senior lesson
- Anyone wanting to learn the senior CAP (cognitive, affective, physical) model
- Anyone interested in a primer for the Senior Specialist 1 or 2 (SS)
- This clinic will include what motivates seniors
- All disciplines are welcome
- No certification is necessary
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this event, participants will be able to:
- Adapt to age-related change - Adjust terrain, pacing, duration and expectations for changes in strength, balance, vision, joint mobility and recovery.
- Choose equipment and tactics that help - Recommend equipment and turn-shape tactics that reduce load and build confidence for older students.
- - Communicate and motivate effectively - Frame goals and feedback around enjoyment, confidence and continued participation rather than performance milestones.
