This snowboard-specific version introduces new, unaffiliated instructors to the AASI Learning Connection Model and the key teaching, people, and technical skills. Participants will gain foundational knowledge in rider progression and fundamentals, preparing them for Level I Certification.
Terrain: Beginner to intermediate (gentle green to mellow blue)
Intensity: Low to moderate
Prerequisites: None
Key Outcomes:
- Explain and apply the Learning Connection Model
- Understand and demonstrate Snowboard Fundamentals
- Deliver a beginner lesson using the Teaching Cycle
- Demonstrate safe and engaging lesson management
Task Examples:
- Skating and gliding drills
- Basic edge control and side slipping through Linked Turns
- Movement analysis and lesson delivery scenarios

Description:
This casual-yet-rich in-person seminar is built around three video clips (Level I, II, and III suitability) to promote thoughtful discussion, analysis, and shared insights. Participants gather in a relaxed setting--complete with coffee and donuts--to deepen their movement analysis skills while watching, discussing, and deconstructing skier performance in a supportive group environment.
Not everyone is required to present--ideal for those who learn best by listening, observing, and contributing when inspired.
Prerequisites:
Open to all instructors. Content is tailored to match certification levels I through III.
