Cross Country Team Introduces XC Certification Pathway Guides
The PSIA Cross Country Team is introducing three “Certification Pathway Guides” to help every level of cross country instructor create a clear map for identifying, training for, and achieving their own certification goals.
“The Cross Country Certification Pathway is a PDF-style document in which instructors looking to get their Level I, II, or III certification can find recommendations for certification prep and all necessary prerequisites in one place!” said PSIA Cross Country Team member Tulie Budiselich.
“In recent years, the Strategic Alignment Process has yielded more and more resources geared toward supporting assessment prep and the assessment process,” she added. “To help prospective assessment candidates find these resources, the XC Certification Pathways identifies those critical resources and prerequisites, providing live links to access them directly.”
According to Budiselich, the Pathways highlight documents, videos, and courses that provide value to any instructor, whether they’re on the certification track or not.
Pathways to PSIA Cross Country Level I certification, for example, includes individualized insight on how to join PSIA-AASI, sign up for regional assessment, attend on-snow training, attend Cross Country Level I assessment, access online resources and assessment prerequisites, practice, and maintain active certification.
Currently, members can find the XC Certification Pathways on their regional website, which can be accessed from the Region Certification Pathways and Resources section on the Certification Resources page on thesnowpros.org or by requesting them from a regional cross country education staff member.
The team is also encouraging ski schools to post them for easy access and use, with a more centralized point of access for them in the future.
“While there is not a direct tie to Cross Country Academy, I think members will find that these Pathways highlight the foundational pieces of PSIA Cross Country curriculum and elevate the supporting documents and resources which are touchpoints for everything we’ll train and explore at Academy,” Budiselich said.
“Beyond that, I hope you’ll find the Pathways self-explanatory, as that’s the idea!”
